#Principalswag

Principalswag!  Yep!  I said it! Principals can have swag too!  I often give out #principalswag awards on my twitter for principals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, or for principals who consistenly get it done.  Let's face it, being a principal is hard but it is one of the most rewarding professions there is.  You have to balance the students, staff, and the parents and community members.  The "s" in swag represents "servant".  To have swag you must be a servant.  One of the greatest things you can do in your role as a principal is serve those that you work with.  The "w" in swag represents "willing".  If you are a principal you must be willing to do anything that is needed.  You can't be afraid to get your hands dirty.  The "a" in swag represents "action".  All good principals are action oriented.  You have to get the job done.  If you say you are going to do something, you must do it!  The final letter in swag is "g" and it is "greater".  As principals we always have to work to make the learning organization greater.  If it is not moving forward and getting better, then we are headed in the wrong direction.

To all my principal friends: Show your swag!

S-servant
W-willing
A-action
G-greater

This is a picture of me with some of the members of our football team.  Don't they look great in their blue blazers!  Go Tigers! Home of Champions!

Doctoral Studies

I had been saying I was going to do it for a long time!  So, I did it!  If you are wondering what I am speaking of, its working on my doctorate degree.  I started this fall and it has gone great thus far!  I have this dream of being a school superintendent one day and felt this is another step I need to take to make it happen.  Its is definitely time consuming because of my job as a principal.

My sister always encourages me to work hard and to achieve my goals.  Its always good to have someone in your corner that pushes you!

Having Fun!!!

I just completed my first 9 weeks as a high school principal. I am loving every minute of it! Corsicana High School is an amazing place with amazing students and staff. Homecoming was last week and it was a blast. You should have seen all of the school spirit in the building. The students had fun, so that made the days go great.

We have fun, but there are a few challenges. Our students have to take part in lots of testing this year. It is my hope that they stay focused and do not lose hope.

I will update periodically on all of the great things that are happening at CHS and around. Find me on twitter @oneilchsprincip for more updates.
